About siberians

A Siberian cat is a naturally developed breed, created without man's intervention, that comes from former Soviet Union. It was recognized as a show breed at the turn of 1980s and 1990s, firstly in Soviet Union. Since then they have become more and more popular, especially in Europe and USA, and were recognized by most of the international cats federations as a show breed (e.g. TICA, FIFE, WCF). In Poland Siberians participate in cat shows as a show breed since 1998.

Siberian cat standard

Siberian cats are classified as a semi-long haired cats. They are frequently compared with Maine Coons and Norwegian Forest Cats.

Their body is well boned and muscled with strong and large paws with typical tufts between toes. Siberian's head is softly round and massive. Its chicks are well-developed and nose is of medium length and broad without stop. Quite big and slightly oval eyes are usually green or amber. Ears are of medium size, well opened at the base and tufted. Tail is long and thick and coat is very dense and well-developed without laying undercoat. Females are frequently smaller than males. Siberians change their coat during the year, so their summer coat is definitely less dense and long than the winter one. Siberian cats appear in almost all colors and all tabby pattern.

Character

Siberian cats are very warm and friendly cats towards people and other creatures. However, each cat has its own temper which determines its style of being. It definitely depends on owner's behavior and on environment. Siberian cats love to be played with and paid your attention.
